The external memory added to increase the storage of a device is termed as expanded memory. This is usually done by inserting a micro storage flash.
The commonly used external memory is SD(Secure Digital) card. It is just a storage card and doesn’t need any installations. Any type of files can be stored in it. But the device could only read the files that it supports. Some devices does not support external memory add-ons.
An USB On-The-Go allows users to connect Pendrives and other flash drives to the device. Mostly they don’t have a common port to connect. Hence, a cable is used to bridge connections between them. This makes many devices to be compatible for expanded storage.
